FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything you need to know

From booking to boarding — answers to the questions we hear most often.

Booking & Pickup

48 hours before your trip, we email you with your pickup time and driver details. On the morning of your trip, our driver meets you at your hotel lobby in Sorrento. It's a 5-minute ride to the marina, where your captain and boat are waiting. Hotel pickup and return are included in every private booking at no extra charge.
We pick up from any hotel in Sorrento, Sant'Agnello, and Piano di Sorrento. If you're staying in a villa or Airbnb, we can usually arrange a pickup from the nearest accessible road. For guests staying in Positano or along the Amalfi Coast, we can arrange pickup but it may involve a longer transfer. Contact us to discuss your specific location.
We recommend booking at least 2 weeks in advance, especially during peak season (June–September). The most popular boats and dates can fill up a month ahead. Last-minute bookings are sometimes possible — call or WhatsApp us to check availability.
You receive an immediate email confirmation with your booking details, boat name, and a summary of your itinerary. 48 hours before the trip, we send a second email with your pickup time and driver's phone number. You can also reach us by WhatsApp at any time for updates.
Private boats typically depart between 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM, depending on the season and your preference. Earlier departures mean you arrive at Capri before the crowds. We'll coordinate the exact time with you based on your itinerary and the boat you've chosen.

The Tour

The crossing takes approximately 40 minutes, depending on sea conditions and the boat. Along the way you'll pass the Li Galli islands and the Punta Campanella marine reserve. It's a scenic part of the trip, not just a transfer.
Absolutely. The itineraries on our site are suggestions. Your captain adapts the day to your preferences. Want more time swimming? Skip the Blue Grotto and hit three secret coves. Want to dock in Capri for a long lunch? Your captain knows the best spots. You can discuss preferences with your captain on the morning of the trip.
The Blue Grotto is included in most itineraries, but entry depends on sea conditions. The grotto is closed when waves are too high (common in the afternoon and on windy days). Your captain will time the visit for the best chance of entry. The entrance fee is €18/person, paid in cash on site. If the Blue Grotto is closed, your captain will take you to the Green Grotto or other sea caves instead.
Our boats accommodate 2 to 12 guests depending on the vessel. Smaller gozzos (32–38 ft) are perfect for couples and small groups up to 6–8. Larger yachts (44–63 ft) handle groups up to 10–12 comfortably. Every boat is private — it's just your group onboard.
Swimsuit, sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. We provide towels, snorkeling gear, water, and soft drinks. Bring cash for the Blue Grotto entrance (€18/person) and for lunch if you plan to eat on Capri. A light layer for the return trip is a good idea — it can be breezy on the water in the late afternoon.

Payment

All prices on sorrentotocapri.com are in Euros (€). You pay in Euros at the time of booking. Your bank handles the conversion at their rate. The price you see is the price you pay — no hidden fees, no fuel surcharges, no port taxes added later.
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) and Apple Pay via our secure online checkout. Payment is processed at the time of booking to confirm your reservation.
No. The price you see includes the boat, captain, fuel, port fees, hotel pickup and return, towels, snorkeling gear, and drinks on board. The only additional costs are the Blue Grotto entrance fee (€18/person, if you choose to visit) and lunch on Capri (your choice of restaurant). Captain gratuity is optional and appreciated.
Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your boat and date. This ensures your captain and boat are reserved exclusively for your group. See our cancellation policy for details on refunds.

Cancellation

Free cancellation up to 48 hours before your trip for a full refund. Cancellations within 48 hours are non-refundable, but we will work with you to reschedule to another available date during your stay if possible.
Your captain monitors the forecast daily. If sea conditions are unsafe, we contact you 24 hours in advance and offer a full reschedule or refund. Light rain usually doesn't stop the trip — the boats have sun covers and the captain adjusts the route to sheltered areas. The decision is always based on safety, never on convenience.
Yes, you can reschedule free of charge up to 48 hours before your trip, subject to availability. Contact us by phone, email, or WhatsApp and we'll help you find a new date.

Special Situations

Yes, children of all ages are welcome. All boats carry life jackets in children's sizes. The captain adjusts the pace of the day for families — shorter swims, calmer routes, and flexibility for naps or snack breaks. Many of our guests travel with young kids.
The waters between Sorrento and Capri are generally calm, especially in summer. If someone is prone to seasickness, we recommend taking medication before boarding. Your captain knows the calmest routes and can adjust the pace. If needed, you can always dock on Capri and spend more time on land.
Yes. We regularly arrange celebrations on the water — birthdays, anniversaries, proposals. We can arrange champagne, a cake, flowers, or specific stops at sunset for photos. Let us know when you book and we'll coordinate with your captain.
Boarding a boat from the marina involves stepping down onto the deck, which can be challenging for guests with limited mobility. Please contact us with details about your situation and we'll recommend the most suitable boat and boarding arrangement. Our captains are experienced in assisting guests who need extra help.
